The Guinness Syracuse Irish Festival announces a new event
and festival start time for this year's 2010 festival

    SYRACUSE – August 31, 2010 – The 2010 Guinness Syracuse Irish Festival announces a new event and festival start time for this year's 2010 festival. The Syracuse Hibernian Festival Committee, the Syracuse Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians are pleased to announce "A Taste of Ireland" at this year's festival. Beginning at 12 Noon on Friday September 10th festival attendees and downtown office workers will be able to enjoy a sampling of Traditional Irish Food and Beverage for the first time as "A Taste of Ireland" is brought to Historic Clinton Square. Sample Sheppard's Pies. Corn Beef and Cabbage, Fish and Chips and many more Irish treats including enjoying the first pour of Guinness Beer flowing from the taps fresh from Ireland.

    Music and activities will begin at noon on Friday with live music on the Traditional Stage enjoy lunch and step back to the "Old Sod" for a beverage and visit the world class authentic Irish craft vendors on display at this year's festival.

    The 2010 Guinness Syracuse Irish Festival will run from 12 Noon to 11pm both Friday September 10 & Saturday September 11th with family fun and games on Saturday for the kids and families.

    For the third consecutive year a Roman Catholic Mass will be celebrated in Gaelic at 11am Saturday with musical and vocal arrangements provided by the Tom Dooley Choraliers and Irish Soloist Deirdre McCarthy.

    This year's festival features international Irish Recording Stars The Town Pants the Northwest of Canada bringing their Roots Rock Irish music to Clinton Square on Friday night as the headlining act. "THE PANTS" combines this passion, energy, animation and spirit with some of the most imaginative song writing ever in the Celtic Rock genre.

    Also Friday night, world renowned Irish Ballidier Seamus Kennedy returns to Syracuse with his humor and touching songs, followed by the Rising Gaels, The Flying Column, and international recording and The Elders.

    On Saturday afternoon following the 11am Mass children, family and parents will enjoy the Kinney Drug Family Fun Day, Putting on the Irish Green, face painting and games galore brought to you by Kinney Drugs presented by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Enjoy an afternoon of Irish Fare, music and friends before the night heats up with the Blarney Rebel Band, Hair of the Dog, Rising Gael, The Causeway Giants, the Glengarry Bhoys and headlining the evening, The Elders will rock and rebel the night away.

    On Wednesday September 8th the Festival Committee will hold a special press event at Kitty Hoyne's Irish Pub in historic Armory Square at 12 Noon.
